Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal

A perfect unit for cheesy thrash tunes a la Slayer and the previously mentioned chugga-chugga stuff. It has way more gain than necessary and has a tendency to cause most guitars to feed back at moderate volumes. The electric mandolin sounds exceptionally spiffy going through it.
